Construction sector leads jobs market growth for second consecutive month

Pin Board is delighted to bring you the news that job opportunities in the Construction and Property sector increased by 67% on August 2012 - according to the latest Reed Job Index. This confirms the construction sector is continuing to lead the way in the growth of the UK jobs market and in the recovery of the UK economy.

It is yet more great news for the whole of the construction and building products industry - manufacturers, merchants and distributors, developers, architects, engineers, and builders and installers - and builds on a plethora of encouraging news during the last 12 weeks.

Commenting on the latest figures, James Reed, chairman of reed.co.uk, said:
“The jobs market has certainly been buoyant this summer. The construction and property sector continues to lead the charge for the second consecutive month and this is no great surprise given the current level of support for buyers. But will this be just another bubble that bursts?”

“The picture across the UK is certainly an interesting one, with Scotland ranking top for growth for the third consecutive month, which is in stark contrast to the situation in Northern Ireland where the index has gone backwards. Overall, salaries remain static, which means households continue to be under pressure. I expect this will lead to more people entering the jobs market this autumn to look for new opportunities to increase their earnings.”

Steve Rogan, Managing Director of Pinnacle Consulting, leading construction sales and marketing recruitment agency, was full of optimism with the news:
"We are encouraged to see the increase in opportunities does not seem to be just a blip, and the industry is showing sustained growth in the labour market.

"The industry is now entering a traditionally key part of the year, and what is now a vital period for its long-term future. We must all remain focused and not become complacent - the whole building and construction industry has felt the full impact of the recession, and everyone really deserves to reap the benefits of a sustained recovery over the coming months."
